Palworld - Best Pals to Breed in Order
In Palworld, top-tier Pals can be obtained earlier through strategic breeding. Follow our guide to breed the best Pals efficiently.
To obtain top-tier Pals in Palworld sooner than expected, focus on breeding strategies rather than waiting until reaching level 45 or exploring challenging locations like Wildlife Sanctuaries or volcanic areas. Follow our guide to breed the finest Pals efficiently.
Breeding Basics
To begin breeding, reaching level 19 is necessary to unlock the recipe for a Breeding Farm in the Technology tab of the menu. Constructing the Breeding Farm requires 100 wood, 200 stone, and 50 fiber. Additionally, you must build a Cooking Pot to unlock the recipe for and start cooking Cake, which consists of 5 Flour, 8 Red Berries, 7 Milk, 8 Eggs, and 2 Honey.
After constructing the Breeding Farm, which occupies a significant amount of space, you'll need to assign two Pals to the Breeding Farm. Subsequently, for each egg you desire the pair to produce, you must place one Cake in the breeding feed box.

Best Pals to Breed
The best Pals to breed in order are:
061-Kitsun
Breeding Kitsun, arguably one of the most exceptional mounts in the game, is highly advantageous as it renders its rider immune to both cold and heat. Given its rarity in the wild, breeding it becomes the optimal choice. Moreover, you can commence breeding Kitsun as soon as you unlock the Breeding Farm.
Parent Combinations
Gumoss, resembling whimsical puddles of sentient mud adorned with a leaf on their heads, can commonly be found in the forests near the starting area and slightly beyond. Additionally, a level 11 Alpha Pal version of Gumoss resides in the Sea Breeze Archipelago. Similarly, Sweepa, characterized by its large white fluff and mustache, also has an Alpha Pal version located on Small Cove Island, also at level 11. Acquiring these Pals early on and making them your initial breeding experiment is advisable.
For an alternative breeding combination, consider pairing Rooby, another fire fox, with Penking. A level 15 Penking Alpha Pal can be found directly northwest of the starting area, northeast of the Abandoned Mineshaft. Penking resembles a large blue penguin king. Rooby, on the other hand, can be located on Marsh Island, directly north of the starting area.
060-Rayhound
Similar to Kitsun, Rayhound stands out as an exceptional mount, albeit for different reasons. Rayhound possesses the ability to double-jump, and many of its mounted attacks involve firing straightforward projectiles, facilitating precise aiming. Furthermore, as an Electric-type, it can serve to power your base in later stages of the game. However, it also proves to be quite useful for breeding purposes, as will be elaborated upon later.
Parent Combinations
For acquiring Rayhound, we recommend the most straightforward approach. Penking, an Alpha Pal, can be found at level 15 northeast of the Abandoned Mineshaft in the Windswept Hills, which are northwest of the starting area. Caprity, though slightly less common, also spawns in the same vicinity, typically ranging between levels 10 and 15.
Direhowls serve as dependable Neutral-type fighters in the early game, making them valuable acquisitions regardless of the circumstances. While they may occasionally pose threats to your starting base, they can also be captured at level 10 or below on Eastern Wild Island, Marsh Island, and the western edge of Windswept Hills. Nitewing, on the other hand, can be found in various locations, including the starting area, typically around level 10. Additionally, there is a level 18 Alpha Pal Nitewing located on the southern tip of Ice Wind Island.
For Sweepa, a low-level Ice-type Pal, it's most convenient to capture its Alpha Pal form on the western island within the Sea Breeze Archipelago. Refer to the previous entry for further details on Direhowl.
095-Quivern
Acquiring a Quivern outright isn't overly difficult; you can encounter one directly at the Sealed Realm of the Winged Tyrant checkpoint. This encounter places you in a battle with a Quivern at level 23 upon using the blue teleportation platform. Alternatively, you can find one in the wild at the No. 2 Wildlife Sanctuary to the west, albeit at a significantly higher level. However, you have the option to bypass these challenges and potentially breed a Quivern right after unlocking the Breeding Farm. As a solid Dragon type, Quivern surpasses Nitewing as an early-game flying mount.
Parent Combinations
Nitewing is a relatively uncommon spawn, often found soaring in the skies across various regions of the map, including the starting area, typically around level 11. However, if you've reached level 18, you can venture to the southern tip of Ice Wind Island to challenge the Alpha Pal version of Nitewing. Given that Nitewing is already considered a must-catch due to being the earliest available flying mount, utilizing it to obtain an even superior mount is a sensible choice.
Relaxaurus can be encountered between levels 10 and 20 in the vicinity just southwest of the map's center, particularly in the Ascetic Falls and Sealed Realm of the Thunder Dragon areas. Breeding Relaxaurus with Quivern yields a highly desirable outcome: a Quivern. This Pal not only serves as a dependable mount and formidable combatant but also proves to be invaluable for breeding future Pals.
Anubis
Perhaps the most coveted non-legendary Pal, the Ground-type Anubis spawns at level 47 as an Alpha Pal in the Twilight Dunes, but it’s possible to acquire one far earlier with a variety of breeding combos. It wields some incredibly powerful attacks and is easily the best Ground Pal in the game.
Parent Combinations
To execute this strategy, you can either breed a Quivern using the Breeding Farm or capture its Alpha Pal version at level 23. Additionally, you'll need to capture a level 11 Chillet Alpha Boss located south of the Fort Ruins fast travel point. This approach is feasible shortly after constructing a Breeding Farm, especially if you prioritize breeding a Quivern first. Chillet is an exceptional Pal in various aspects, making it a valuable addition to your team regardless of your breeding plans.
Bushi are typically found roaming the volcanoes of the Palpagos Islands at levels above 30. However, there is an exception: a level 23 Alpha Pal Bushi can be encountered in the Sealed Realm of the Swordmaster at coordinates (-131, -493). Furthermore, a level 15 Penking Alpha Pal can be found northeast of the Abandoned Mineshaft in the redwood forest northwest of the starting area.
If your player level is already in the 30s, opting for this route is highly advantageous, particularly because Ragnahawk stands out as one of the premier flying mounts in the game. You can encounter Ragnahawks around level 35 in the southwest corner of the map, specifically around the Mount Obsidian volcano.
Tombats can be found spawning at night in the Windswept Hills northwest of the starting area. It's advised to focus on the southern edge of the red area of the map for their sighting.
While we've outlined what we believe to be the most effective and straightforward breeding combinations for Anubis, players have also reported success with the following combinations:
- Dinossum Rex + Warsect
- Bushi + Grintale
- Vanwyrm + Azurobe
- Arsox + Pyrin
- Caprity + Beakon
- Eikthyrdeer + Beakon
- Incineram + Surfent
- Mossanda + Katress
- Nitewing + Rayhound
105-Faleris
Faleris, a flying firebird, is typically encountered at higher levels in the No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary situated in the northeast corner of the map. Renowned for its exceptional flying capabilities, Faleris stands out as one of the best flying mounts in the game. Additionally, it excels as a formidable fighter and proves to be a top-tier worker, particularly for tasks such as smelting and transport.
Parent Combinations
Following the method outlined above, breeding Anubis proves to be a simpler alternative compared to capturing it at level 47. Vanwyrm, essentially Faleris's less powerful counterpart, is another fire bird that can be captured at lower levels. While they typically spawn around Mount Obsidian at slightly higher levels, you can find them around level 11 in Ascetic Falls. Head towards the coordinates (-115, -416) and search the skies. They often fly in pairs and, while somewhat uncommon, are not exceedingly rare.
104-Lyleen
Lyleen, often hailed as one of the finest Grass-types in the game, typically spawns in the wild at higher levels within the No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary. Additionally, you can encounter Lyleen in the Tower of the Free Pal Alliance boss battle at around level 25. If a Pal is featured as a Tower boss, it's a reliable indicator of its worth. However, it is possible to breed a Lyleen far earlier than its typical wild spawn level.
Parent Combinations
The other Grass-type, Petallia, can be encountered in an arena battle at level 28. This arena is located on the southern half of Mount Flopie island, northwest of the Windswept Hills. Alternatively, you can journey to the No. 2 Wildlife Sanctuary, situated south of the starting area, to capture Petallia in the wild, typically ranging between levels 20 and 25. As for Mossanda, it spawns in Mossanda Forest within the level range of 20 to 30.
077-Verdash
Verdash is a versatile Grass-type Pal with commendable attributes, boasting high attack power, relatively low food consumption, and a plethora of work skills. Acquiring Verdash as soon as possible is highly recommended, as it proves to be a valuable asset. While it may be overshadowed in combat by the likes of Warsect, another Grass-type, in later stages of the game, Verdash remains a dependable companion throughout the mid-game. Additionally, its effectiveness as one of your top workers ensures its continued utility even as it approaches retirement.
Parent Combinations
To acquire Bushi, you can challenge a level 23 Field Alpha Boss at the Sealed Realm of the Swordmaster, located just southwest of the teleport point at Bamboo Grove with the same name. Alternatively, Bushi can be found in the wild around level 33 on the southern edges of Mount Obsidian or even at higher levels in the No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary.
As for Tocotoco, they are known for their kamikaze attacks on bases, similar to Voltorb from Pokémon, detonating and causing significant damage to the surrounding area. While they typically spawn at higher levels across the Sand Dunes to the northeast, you can encounter them at earlier levels, around level 10 or so, in the desert area on the northeastern edge of Investigator’s Fork.
103-Grizzbolt
The Pal you likely encountered alongside Zoe at the Rayne Syndicate Tower, and recognized as one of the de facto Palworld mascots, is often referred to as a symbol of the game. While it only rarely spawns in the wilds of the No. 1 Wildlife Sanctuary on an island in the far southeast area of the map, typically around level 30, it's far more convenient to breed one earlier than waiting for a wild encounter.
Parent Combinations
The Grass-type Mossanda can be found in the Mossanda Forest, typically ranging between levels 20 and 30. As for Rayhound, it spawns in the wild at levels 40 and above in the southern half of the Sand Dunes. However, this is precisely why we recommend breeding one far earlier to avoid the need to wait for a high-level wild encounter.
106-Orserk
Typically, capturing an Orserk involves venturing into the No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary situated in the northeast corner of the map, which often entails dealing with guards and encountering various Pals above level 40. However, there is an alternative: breeding this formidable Pal a bit earlier, avoiding the need for such a challenging endeavor.
Parent Combinations
Now that you have a Grizzbolt, you can breed it with the Relaxaurus used previously to breed a Quivern, resulting in the creation of Orserk. Relaxaurus can be found spawning between levels 10 and 20 just southwest of the map's center, primarily in the Ascetic Falls and Sealed Realm of the Thunder Dragon areas.
098-Astegon
If you're still at level 45 or lower, it's advisable to consider breeding an Astegon, a Dragon/Dark-type Pal that holds significant value in your endgame combat lineup or even at your preferred mining colony. While there's an Astegon Alpha Pal boss at level 48 located at Mount Obsidian, you can certainly breed one earlier than that, saving you the trouble of facing a higher-level boss.
Parent Combinations
If you still have the Relaxaurus, when you reach level 40 and start exploring the southern Sand Dunes to the northeast, it's time to pursue a Suzaku. Although there's a level 45 Alpha Pal located just southwest of the lake in the center of the Sand Dunes, they could potentially spawn closer to level 40, providing you with an opportunity to capture one earlier.
107-Shadowbeak
Largely considered one of the best combat pals in the game, like its name implies, Shadowbeak is a Dark-type bird and the best non-legendary flying mount. As an added bonus, its partner skill Genetic Modification boosts Dark attacks while you’re riding it. With the right traits, it’s easily the most powerful Dark-type in the entire game with a lot of utility.
Parent Combinations
If you've been following this list, you should already have a Kitsun and an Astegon. Breed them together to obtain a Shadowbeak. However, if you've already reached level 45, you might as well attempt to catch Astegon's Alpha Pal version outright or explore the No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary for it.
